We’ve all heard of Yoga but, Beer Yoga?

Beer Yoga - A history of where it all began and where it's going.

We’ve all heard of Yoga but, Beer Yoga?

Beer Yoga is a thing, in fact, it’s becoming an international phenomenon, with many countries offering Free classes, especially for students.

It began in Berlin and is called BierYoga – Officially.

What is it?

It really is as simple as it reads - Beer Yoga is yoga…with beer.

Apparently, the exuberance that the drinking of beer brings with it and the body consciousness of yoga can be combined into an energizing experience. If you’re thinking it is a joke and just another booze crazed idea, think again. BierYoga is supposed to be fun, but it’s no joke.

We take the philosophies of yoga and pair them with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness. Say those that teach it.

Classes are now done around the world from Europe, Australia, Asia and locally in the United Kingdom.

Google it and book a session with a friend or family member near you?

“it might just be a memory you might want to bank?”

The UK's industry body, Yoga Alliance Professionals (YAP), has called the practice 'unacceptable' but those who teach beer yoga say combining the exercise with drinking alcohol makes it less intimidating for people who have never tried it before.

Some have also questioned if adding a beer into the mix makes it harder for novices to hold the positions.

The addition of alcohol can also affect one's balance.

However, advocates say that the combination acts as a gateway into yoga for those sceptical about the ancient practice.

Yoga Dates Back To The Ancient Teachings of Sage Pantanjali in 400 BC.

Beer yoga isn't the only quirky spin on this traditional exercise, which hails back to the ancient teachings of Sage Pantanjali in 400 BC.

There are now dog yoga classes - where you perform poses with your dog - goat yoga groups, and ones where you hold positions in the buff.

Laughter yoga, aerial yoga, and hula hoop yoga are also unusual versions of the stress-busting exercise.
