I Built A Video Store In My Basement - Welcome To Nostalgia Video

The last few days have been filled with nostalgia as we reminisced about the decade that was coming to an end. But one man went beyond the last ten years. Nick Collins likes to look back on the joys of the 80s and 90s with his VHS memorabilia. Remember the chunky tapes of yesteryear that would take ages to rewind and forward?

Well, Nick’s got bucketloads of cinematic favourites.

In fact, he’s turned his entire basement into a Blockbuster classic.

Remember those? Like a kid at Christmas, you’d walk through lanes of wonderful new releases and classics to rent as many as you were allowed.

Scrolling on Netflix just doesn’t have the same appeal as the classic stores.

Nick, spent two months putting the room together which includes thousands of movies on classic VHS. He actually began expanding the basement 4 years prior and the idea to then turn it into a Blockbuster came sometime later.

Unfortunately, though, it’s not an actual Blockbuster that you can start renting from but if you really want a cassette, Nick offers VHS tapes on his online store Nostalgia Video.

How did this all come about, this man caved creation you may wonder?

From Nick;

“It all started to come together once I got into collecting classic VHS tapes with my brother, we had this small space that was about half the size of the room you see today. As we got more and then a lot more VHS tapes, we ran out of the room, so the initial thought about the potential ideas for an expansion set in.”

So, the spring of 2017 the expansion began and it took two months to complete.

People are absolutely nostalgic for things like VHS tapes and retro video games today,’ he added.

Nostalgia is in right now for sure. I watch a lot of movies, but not nearly as much as one would think I do.

My time is usually devoted to different Nostalgia Video projects, as well as balancing my personal life.

The store in my basement isn’t a location that’s open to the public. It is my private space.

It’s really just an over the top display for my personal collection of videos, thanks to social media platforms like Facebook I’m now able to share my passion with the world!’

His personal conversion includes classic screens with demos, games and all things classic, just like the stores!

If you’re into retro, you’ll love his Video Store
